The British Association of Skin Camouflage (BASC) was formed by Joyce Allsworth who, during the 1950’s, researched and implemented the concept of skin camouflage within Great Britain.
Joyce was instrumental in setting up the skin camouflage service within the British Red Cross (1975) and remained their chief trainer for many years thereafter.
In 1985 she responded to the need for training private as well as NHS camouflage practitioners and also the request to form a support association for skin camouflage professionals - the British Association of Skin Camouflage was born!
We have a nationwide network of BASC trained practitioners who are able to offer a consultation service within the NHS and private practice.
BASC offers Associate Membership to any Company, Authority, Organisation, Support Group or Individual who is interested in being kept up to date on the latest news and techniques.
Our office receives between fifteen and twenty enquiries per day from people wishing to seek advice and assistance with camouflage application. Some people will stumble across skin camouflage when surfing the internet, others might have had the opportunity to discuss camouflage with their medical advisor or therapist. Sadly, for the majority of people, skin camouflage remains a mystery!
BASC is internationally acknowledged as the leading provider for training professionals in this specialism.
Our graduates pride themselves on the principles and skills they practice in their role to help others to face the world - with confidence
