Training Initiative (Graduate) Diploma
Courses span four days (usually Friday through to Monday) and include Saturday evening After Dinner Speaker (patient’s perspective) to meet the needs of;
- Medical and healthcare professionals
- Pharmacists
- Maxillofacial technicians
- Occupational therapists
- Beauty therapists
- Make-up artists
- Counsellors working with patients with an altered image
- Tutors (beauty therapy S-NVQ level III)
Continuing Professional Development accreditation is awarded by;
- Royal College of Nursing (30 hours)
- Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technicians (30 hours)
- Health and Beauty Industry Authority (30 hours)
- College of Occupational Therapists (no CPD requirement for practising OTs)
- The Institute of Trichologists (30 hours)
each trainee receives;
- comprehensive kit of camouflage samples from the brands available on NHS prescription
- applicator kit
- copy of Cover, the principles and art of para-medical skin camouflage
- BASC Product Information Manual
- skin care samples and literature
- skin staining, faux tan products and literature
- additional handout material in support of specialist sessions
course content includes;
- psychological aspects when working with someone who has an altered image
- physiology of skin and understanding dermatoses and scarring
- how to quickly achieve an acceptable skin match by employing the knowledge of sight : light : dermatosis : skin colour : pigment in products
- application techniques
- how to maintain the camouflage during wear
- how to effectively remove camouflage
- how to obtain products available (on prescription and direct purchase)
- why it is important not to be intrusive and allow the person choices
- understanding toiletries and topical medication and how they interact with skin camouflage
- consultation process, including personal claim injury clients
- overview of facial symmetry
- overview of postiche and camouflage
- overview of prosthesis and camouflage
- overview of make-up over camouflage products
- overview of medical tattooing
- quality workshops
Upon successful completion you will be presented with the BASC Diploma and RCN CDP Certificate and can register as a Graduate Member.
The Graduate’s Diploma is accepted for indemnity purposes by medical and industrial authorities and agencies, usually at no additional premium cost.
Cost: Inclusive of kits (in excess of £600 mrp) Cover, the principles and art of para-medical skin camouflage, residential £975.00 / non-residential £850.00
